dc.description.abstract | I had started my Internship program at GEMCON Group, Corporate office. Gemcon started its remarkable journey with construction and engineering. Now, the group has expanded its businesses in multifarious sectors. From seafood to retail, organics to education, jute to tea, sports to media- Gemcon has its successful presence in everywhere.
Gemcon is the first local company to participate in a Hydro-Carbon Habitat study, bring SPC Poles technology in Bangladesh, start 100% organically produced tea in a flat grounded tea garden and offer Liberal Arts education at university level. They have started versatile business projects that created new employment opportunities for thousands of people. They established possibly the only large jute mill and tea garden in Panchagarh, the least developed and remote district of Bangladesh. We took social and environmental responsibility as our prime concern.
I have done my internship there for 3 months and received the topic for my project report. The topic was given by the head department as per my mentor advised.
Here I want to discuss briefly about the HR practices of Gemcon group.
Recruitment and selection
GEMCON Group search for potential employee and after discovering good candidate they goes through some process like interview, examination. They try to ensure sustainable operation of the organization.
Screening and shortlisting the applicant
In this process HR manager try to screening some candidate and call them for interview.
Interview taking
After screening the applicant they call candidate for the interview. Assistant HR, Executive HR take interview of the candidates
Termination, Discharge, Resignation
Termination of employment is when employee walkout from a job and the end of an employee's duration with an employer. Gemcon’s HR provide termination letter to the employees. They manage employee’s Discharge and resignation to balance over the company.
Resignation and Retirement:
HR manager handle Resignation and retirement file and list it according to their department and designation.
Maintaining a Safe Environment
There is some policy in Gemcon to maintain safe environment within organization. Gemcon’s HR provides rules for it.
Employer-Employee Relations
Gemcon’s HR manager tries to create a friendly work environment. For this employee can easily share their problems.
Compensation and Benefits
Gemcon’s HR manage file of every employees compensation file. They also provide a good benefit to the employee.
Training and Development
Every month they arrange training for the employee.
