dc.description.abstract | F. Rahman & Brothers is a significant fertilizer distributor in Kawkhali Upazila, Pirojpur, Bangladesh. This internship report looks at their supply chain management procedures in the context of the country's agricultural economy and the government-regulated fertilizer market. Agriculture is an important sector of Bangladesh's economy, and a large proportion of Bangladeshis are employed in it. Fertilizers play an essential role in enhancing crop yields, especially in the rice-growing area of the country, where the most arable land is utilized. An essential part of F. Rahman & Brothers's business model is the distribution of fertilizers, both
local (urea) and foreign (TSP, MOP, DAP), to farmers via a system of 32 sub-dealers spread among five unions. With government-fixed pricing for urea purchased from the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) and non-urea fertilizers imported from outside vendors, the firm functions within a dual distribution system. F. Rahman & Brothers has a solid foundation and the
confidence of the farmers in Kawkhali Upazila, which allows them to maintain monopoly status as the only distributor authorized by BCIC in the area. The subsidized fertilizer market is reflected in the company's financial structure. Its dedication to social effect and CSR is shown by its interestfree loans to smallholder farmers and its willingness to bear some of the increase in transportation costs during crises. Expanding its scope to include Bangladesh's agricultural industry as a whole, the paper discusses topics such as soil fertility, climate change, and the role of fertilizers in raising crop yields. Strategic priorities such as logistics modernization, capacity expansion, and digital integration are necessary to overcome the challenges that F. Rahman & Brothers faces. The report finally mentioned that F. Rahman & Brothers is a vital component of Bangladesh's fertilizer distribution
and supports food security and agricultural production in Bangladesh. Policy changes that the firm is pressing for include subsidized freight rates, a buffer stock allowance, and stricter antitrust measures. The findings of this study indicate that enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of fertilizer distribution in Bangladesh would be possible through logistics, inventory management, and regulatory compliance improvements. | en_US |
